Pixelating an image means averaging blocks of pixels down to one colour, then optionally snapping those colours to a limited palette. Both steps are adjustable here, so you can go from a light pixelation to a full Game Boy four-tone look.
How to use it
- Drop in an image.
- Set the block size — larger blocks mean chunkier pixels.
- Choose a palette and download the result.

Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded?
No. It is drawn onto a canvas in your browser and never sent anywhere.
What does the palette do?
It snaps every colour to the nearest entry in a fixed set, which is what gives retro hardware its distinctive look.
Why does my image look muddy?
Photos with low contrast average into similar blocks. Increase contrast before converting, or use a palette with more separation.
