URL Encoder / Decoder

Percent-encode and decode URLs and query strings.

Runs entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves this device and is never sent to our servers.

Component encoding also escapes reserved characters such as & and =

Result

URLs may only contain a limited set of characters. Everything else — spaces, ampersands, non-Latin text — has to be percent-encoded, or the URL breaks in ways that are hard to spot. The distinction that trips people up is component versus full URL: encoding a whole URL as a component destroys its structure.

How to use it

  1. Paste the URL or the value you want to encode.
  2. Choose encode or decode.
  3. Leave “Encode as component” on for a single query value; turn it off for a complete URL.

Frequently asked questions

Component or full URL — which do I want?
Component encoding escapes reserved characters like & = ? / so a value can sit safely inside a query string. Full-URL encoding leaves those intact so the URL still works. Use component encoding for values, full for whole URLs.
Why did my + become a space?
In query strings, + is a legacy encoding for a space. If you mean a literal plus, it must be encoded as %2B.
