Compressed

Most images on the web are several times larger than they need to be. Compression trades a little detail for a lot of bytes, and the useful range is wider than people expect — quality 75 to 85 is usually indistinguishable from the original at normal viewing size.

This compressor shows the original and the result side by side with the exact saving, so you can decide where the line is rather than guessing.

How to use it

  1. Drop in your image.
  2. Move the quality slider and watch the size change.
  3. Compare against the original, then download.

Frequently asked questions

How much can I save?
A typical camera JPEG drops 60–80% at quality 80 with no visible difference at screen size. Screenshots and flat graphics compress far better as PNG or WebP than as JPEG.
Does it reduce the dimensions?
No, compression alone keeps the pixel dimensions. If the image is larger than it will ever be displayed, resizing it first saves far more than any quality setting.
Why did my PNG get bigger?
PNG is lossless, so re-encoding a photograph as PNG can exceed the original JPEG. Use JPEG or WebP for photographs.
